I have specialised in employment matters since qualification in 2002 and cover all aspects of employment law for both employers and employees.
I aim to ensure all employers are up to date with current law and practices and take proactive steps to support businesses. I provide advice on disciplinary and grievance processes, managing sickness absence, providing bespoke contracts of employment and handbooks and preparing and negotiating settlement agreements.
I have extensive experience in advising on TUPE matters, business reorganisations and redundancies. My clients range in size from small, family-run businesses to large, multi-site national organisations. From the outset, I work to support the business and provide commercial and practical advice and solutions to everyday HR and employment issues.
For employees, I provide advice and representation in claims for discrimination, whistleblowing and equal pay, in addition to claims for unfair dismissal, including those arising from redundancy. I also advise on internal grievances, contractual matters and on settlement agreements.
Where claims are made, I have considerable experience in representing clients in employment tribunals across the country and advising in appeals to the employment appeal tribunal.
Employment law changes at a fast pace, and I appreciate employers find it difficult to keep abreast of these. To assist, I regularly provide training to businesses and conduct seminars on topical employment issues, including at our quarterly EAT lunch @battens together with legal updates.
I am a member of the Employment Lawyers Association (ELA)
Outside of work, I enjoy watching rugby (though cannot claim to know all the rules!) I enjoy travelling as much as time allows and, to relax, the simple pleasure of a large glass of chilled wine overlooking the river.
