Battens Solicitors are celebrating after being recognised for Investing in Somerset, through the Somerset Business Awards.
On Friday 22nd March 2024 representatives from Battens Solicitors travelled to Weston-Super-Mare for the Somerset Chamber’s annual awards ceremony, the Somerset Business Awards. The event was in its 19th year and saw nearly 400 people from across Somerset attend the gala evening, which was hosted by Global and Heart FM broadcast journalist, Cormac MacMahon.
On the evening, Battens Solicitors were named winners for the ‘Investing in Somerset’ category, due to the Battens Charitable Trust (BCT), with this year alone donating more than £25,000 to Somerset charities. This charity inspires and supports young professionals getting into the law profession through their Solicitor training programmes. The legal aid work taken on by the Family Department supports families and individuals through difficult times. In addition, the charity hosts and supports community events to bring communities and groups together for a brighter future.
Managing Director of Battens Solicitors, Ceri Stephens, said, “We are delighted to have been recognised with this award. It means so much to everyone at Battens and is a testament to all the additional work our staff put in to making Somerset a great place to live and work. We really did not expect to win, all the finalists in this category are doing amazing work. Listening to their stories on the night was so inspiring, everyone should be proud of what they are achieving. Thank you to the judges for their time in visiting us and their faith in what we are doing, it really does mean a lot to us.”
Director of Battens and Battens Charitable Trustee, Naomi Dyer said, “The BCT was set up almost 40 years ago so Battens could provide donations to local groups and causes. Our staff really do get behind this and spend many hours and days fundraising through challenges and activities, so we are then able to assist those who are trying to improve the lives and experiences within the local community. We are thrilled to have won the award and to have been recognised through the Somerset Business Awards.”
