Location: Sherborne

Tracy jointly heads up Battens Solicitor’s Agriculture & Rural Property team and specialises in advising landowners, farmers and agricultural tenants on matters associated with the ownership and occupation of land.

Having been bought up on a farm in New Zealand, and having been a tenant farmer herself prior to moving to Dorset to take up a career in agricultural law, Tracy’s knowledge of agriculture means that she understands the diverse and complex challenges that farmers face.

Tracy became a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives in March 2017 and has been working for Battens for some 15 years in agriculture and prior to that, commercial property. During this time, Tracy has developed a wealth of experience as a specialist in agricultural law and is well respected in this field.

Tracy advises a variety of clients whether it is to a small parcel of land or multi-million pound farm.

Tracy specialises in:

  • Acquisition and disposal of rural property including farms, country houses and estates, woodland and equestrian properties
  • Landlord and tenant matters such as farm business tenancy agreements
  • Overage agreements
  • Grazing licenses, tenancy agreements for equestrian businesses
  • Secured lending
  • Partnership agreements, partition of land and succession planning for agricultural businesses

“I would like to personally thank you and commend you on your outstanding professional and timely work to get our mutual client’s farm to exchange and completion in such a challenging timescale and dealing with the buyers team of solicitors. And to follow this up advising our mutual clients on the purchase of their new farm in an even shorter timescale. A monumental effort without which this would not have happened in 4 weeks. Amazing work.”
