Elaine is a Paralegal working in our Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Team with 20+ years of experience. Her role involves providing crucial support to the senior fee earners in the team with a wide spectrum of both personal injury and clinical negligence claims.
Elaine originally started working for Battens Personal Injury Team (as it then was) in August 2001, advancing to heading up the Road Traffic Accident team when the Personal Injury Team split off to become Lawyers at Work Limited.
Following a period of extended maternity leave, Elaine returned to Lawyers at Work for a period, following which she joined Peter Bayliss Solicitors, a company specialising in clinical negligence claims, where she remained for 4 years, gaining during that time significant experience in clinical negligence work generally as well as in the more specific and highly contentious area of chronic pain.
Elaine rejoined Battens in 2021, originally as team secretary for the Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Team before advancing to her current role as Paralegal. She spends approximately 60% of her fee-earning time working on Personal Injury claims, and 40% on Clinical Negligence claims.
Elaine’s work exposes her to the full range of both types of claims. Examples of recent cases she has worked on include:
- Road traffic accident claims, where the clients have suffered serious and life changing injuries or the death of a loved one.
- Clinical negligence claims, including those in which the client has been the victim of healthcare negligence that has led to the need for an amputation or where the wrong surgery has been carried out.
- Claims arising from accidents at work.
“Battens Solicitors have been very professional with my case, I have always been informed of each step of my case. I have nothing but praise. Especially Elaine and her staff.
I highly recommend them.”
