Christmas Card Drawing Competition Rules 2026

Battens Solicitors Drawing Competition Rules 2026

1. The Competition

Battens Solicitors (“we”, “us”, “our”) intends to contact various primary schools in the Somerset area to ask if pupils would like to draw or paint a picture that could be used in our 2026 Christmas card, with the idea being that the winning entry will be displayed on the front cover of the Battens Solicitors official Christmas Card for 2026.

The theme is “Christmas”, to capture the warmth and joy of the festive season. Pupils will be encouraged to use any art supplies they like – pencils, colouring pens, paint, paper, watercolours. Let the imagination run wild. Pictures will initially be reviewed by a team within Battens and one picture will be selected as the winner.

2. Territory and eligibility

The Competition is open to primary school pupils up to and including the age of 11 at the time of entry. Each entry must be submitted on behalf of the pupil by a parent or guardian aged 18 or over. A teacher may submit entries on behalf of a school only where the school has obtained the necessary authority and consents from the pupil’s parent or guardian. By submitting an entry, the responsible adult confirms that they have authority to accept these Competition Rules and grant the permissions set out in them on the pupil’s behalf. Only one entry per person is allowed. Entry to the Competition is free of charge. Please note that pupils are responsible for any costs incurred in creating and submitting the original picture (e.g. art materials).

3. Competition dates

Submission Deadline: Thursday 5 November 2026. Winner Announcement: Friday 20 November 2026.

We accept no responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or any other problem with any system, server, provider or otherwise that may result in any entry being lost, delayed or not properly received. The Competition will be judged during the week beginning Monday 9 November 2026, and one picture will be selected to appear on the front cover of our Christmas card. The pupil who created the winning picture will be notified by Friday 20th November.

4. How to enter

Students must create an original picture based on the theme selected for the Competition and submit their picture to the school reception where all entries will be collected by Battens Solicitors on Friday 6 November 2026.

The theme will be “Christmas”

On the back of each competition entry, please write down:

  • Pupil’s first and last name
  • The pupil’s age (as of 1 September 2026)
  • The pupil’s school

5. Prizes and selection of winning entries

One winner will be selected by a panel of judges from within Battens Solicitors. All decisions will be final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into. The winner will receive a Competition Certificate and the place for their picture on the front cover of our Christmas card. Please note that no cash equivalent or alternative prize will be given.

6. Personal data

We will collect and store the names of all pupil entrants and the additional contact details of the winner as anticipated by paragraphs 4 and 5 above. We will use this personal data solely for the following purposes:

  • managing and administering the competition
  • crediting the winner and arranging delivery of their certificate; and
  • marketing and publicity in accordance with paragraph 7 below.

The parent or guardian submitting an entry acknowledges that we will process the pupil’s personal data for the purposes set out in this section. Where consent is required for publicity under paragraph 7, it must be given by the pupil’s parent or guardian.

A parent or guardian may contact [email protected] to exercise the pupil’s data protection rights or withdraw any consent previously given. We may request reasonable proof of identity or authority where necessary, but please do not send identity documents unless requested.

7. Publicity and rights

We intend to publish the name and picture of the winner on our website, Facebook page, press releases and in other promotional and marketing material. In addition, we may write and publish articles about the winner’s enjoyment of the Competition. We will obtain the parent’s or guardian’s specific consent before publishing the winner’s name, image, artwork or related publicity. Refusal or withdrawal of publicity consent will not affect the judging of the entry or entitlement to the prize.

Pupils will retain copyright in the entry material that they submit to us. By submitting an entry, the pupil’s parent or guardian grants us, free of charge, permission to use the entry material (including, without limitation, modifying and adapting it for operational and editorial reasons) in any media worldwide for purposes connected with the Competition. The parent or guardian of the pupil who wins the Competition grants us further permission to publish and exhibit their entry material (including, without limitation, modifying and adapting it for operational and editorial reasons) in print and any media worldwide for any legitimate purpose. Each pupil confirms that the entry material is their original work, is not defamatory and does not infringe any English laws, that they have the right to give us permission to use it for the purposes specified above, and that all necessary consents for the submission of the entry material have been obtained.

All rights in our name and logo, websites, Facebook page, press releases and other promotional and marketing material and all other content and materials produced by or for Battens Solicitors (together the “Battens Materials”) shall vest in and remain with us (or our licensors). By participating in the Competition, pupils agree that they will not use, broadcast, publish, export, exploit, reproduce nor copy part or all of Battens Materials.

8. General

We may disqualify or refuse to accept the entry of any pupil that does not meet the eligibility criteria in section 2 or does not otherwise comply with these Competition Rules.

These Competition Rules shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes or claims (including, without limitation, non-contractual disputes or claims) arising out of or in connection with the Competition.

9. Acceptance of Competition Rules

By participating in this Competition, participants are deemed to accept these Competition Rules and to have given us the requisite consents for use of their personal information, image and copyright work.
