James jointly heads up Batten’s Agriculture & Rural Property team which is based in the Sherborne office.

He is from a local farming family and is a partner in his family’s farming business. James is involved in all types of agricultural work, including succession planning, the buying and selling of farms and agricultural land, advising on farm business tenancies and agricultural holdings act tenancies, business leases, energy leases, telecommunication leases, the granting of fishing and shooting rights, as well as advising on easements and restrictive covenants.

He works closely with colleagues in the Private Client Department in order to provide clients with a comprehensive service, including tax and planning advice.

James is a member of the Agricultural Law Association and the Country Landowners Association.
