I am a Chartered Legal Executive Advocate in the Property Dispute Resolution Team – a team recognised in the Legal 500.

I specialise in residential landlord and tenant cases, advising landlords on the various routes to obtaining possession under Sections 8 and 21 of the Housing Act 1988, and on their obligations in line with current legislation including tenancy deposit schemes, Right to Rent checks, Houses in Multiple Occupation and Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards.

I also advise tenants when they are faced with eviction, and I advise either side on breaches of tenancy.

I am a regular advocate in the county court, both in bringing actions for claimants and in defending proceedings for defendants. I draft Notices, tenancy agreements and licences to occupy/lodger agreements to meet the specific needs of landlords.

Prior to taking on this role, I spent three years in debt recovery at Battens and bring with me a wealth of knowledge and experience in the recovery of rent arrears.

I am a member of the Property Litigation Association and am registered with them as an advocate for the Yeovil and Weymouth County Courts.  I am also a trustee of South Somerset Citizens’ Advice Bureau.

"Excellent service from Jacqui Swann, have now sought Battens advice on another matter as a result of this. Thank you!"
