I am a Solicitor and Head of Clinical and Medical Negligence here at Battens. I specialise in healthcare related claims.
I have worked in law since 1999 and have accumulated 10 years’ of experience managing clinical negligence claims. I joined Battens in 2009, prior to that I worked for a mid-size law firm in London and then for a national firm, Browne Jacobson, in Nottingham. Before my legal career, I was a medical secretary for 8 years working in the NHS. Over the years, I have built up wide litigation experience; having worked in the NHS, in defence of the NHS and now against healthcare providers.
Clinical and Medical Negligence Claims
My work now largely involves representing Claimants pursuing claims against Hospital Trusts, General Practitioners, pharmacies and other care providers. Due to my experience, I have extensive knowledge of the systems and workings of the health service. My background means that I understand the traumas, difficulties suffered and the long term and chronic issues that can affect patients. This awareness, plus my medical knowledge and experience in law, means I am well placed to provide balanced advice to clients who are considering taking action against healthcare providers. With my wide experience, I am able to undertake a variety of claims including delay in diagnosis, failures in the provision of nursing care and dispensing errors by pharmacies.
Every case is different and I am able to offer my Clients an individual service reflective of the sensitivities of clinical negligence claims. Uniquely placed in view of my skills and experience, I am able to guide clients through the often complex paths which lead to a successful outcome. Where appropriate, I represent clients via a Conditional Fee Agreement, also known as a No Win, No Fee arrangement.
With a young family, it is not always easy to find time for hobbies and interests between overseeing (enforcing!) homework and taxi-ing to After School Clubs. Any time left over is spent on my passion for horticulture and developing a garden not only beautiful to enjoy but a home for butterflies and moths.
