Specialising in high value and complex commercial property transactions, I advise on commercial property sales and purchases, leases, options, pre-emption and development agreements. I have experience in most areas of property law acting for landlords and tenants, developers, companies, individuals, pension funds and charities.
I joined Battens as Head of the Commercial Property team in 2017 after previously being Head of Property at Parker Bullen in Salisbury. Graduating from Warwick University in 1982 with a degree in Economics and Politics I followed an early career in banking. After deciding to make a career change and being something of an explorer I took a 2 year career break to travel to some more exotic places of the world before returning to the UK in 1998 to study law. I qualified as a solicitor in 2002 and joined Awdry Bailey and Douglas in Devizes becoming a Partner and Head of Commercial after 6 years.
My background in the financial sector helps me to provide balanced practical legal and commercial advice. I see my role and that of my team as being there to help our clients achieve their goals by providing clear and concise practical advice offering them an excellent legal service.
Out of the office, I was President of the Gloucester and Wiltshire Law Society 2012/13 and having recently acquired a puppy I enjoy long walks in the countryside. I try to keep fit by going to the gym and as a former player I am a keen rugby spectator.
