Louise Gidley

Solicitor and Director

Family Law, Children, Divorce and Separation

Location: Yeovil

Louise joined Battens as a Solicitor in 2006 and became a Director in March 2021. She is based in our Yeovil office and is Head of the Family Team.

Louise has over 16 years specialist experience in family law and deals/advises in all aspects of private family law, including divorce, dissolution of Civil Partnerships, separation and the resolution of children and financial matters as well as drafting cohabitation agreements and pre and postnuptial agreements. She enjoys working collaboratively with the other party and their solicitor to find bespoke solutions that suit the parties and their family. Working in this way encourages better working relationships in the future, this is particularly important where there are children involved and there is a need to co-parent moving forwards.

Louise provides quality legal advice and most of her clients come through recommendation. She understands that relationship breakdown can be a very difficult experience and listens to her client’s needs and works hard to help them get through the family law process as painlessly, quickly and cost-effectively as possible. Louise always endeavours to reach constructive and sensible agreements but represents clients through the court process if matters cannot be agreed.

Louise is also an active member of Resolution, being on the Somerset Committee, which is an organisation of lawyers committed to resolving family matters in a non-acrimonious and child-focused manner. She is also a member of the Law Society Children Panel and deals with complex public law cases.

“I cannot thank Battens solicitors enough, from directing me to the most appropriate solicitor to help with the matter, and the service I received. I have nothing but praise and thanks for Louise who dealt with the case in a prompt, professional and courteous manner throughout and approached the sensitive details with care and consideration. The case wouldn’t have concluded in the positive way it has had it not been for Louise and her representation for me and my views. I would return to Battens for any future help and advice needed, knowing I would be completely satisfied with the service I received.”
