As CEO, I am responsible for all the commercial operations of the business including strategy, planning and decision-making.
Battens has had an excellent reputation for providing a high-quality, personal service for a number of years. We are currently looking to build on this by increasing the range of services we offer and by extending our geographical reach. Business is not only about clients it is also about staff and we are therefore looking to provide a great place to work which will also provide clients with continuity of staff dealing with their affairs.
As a Chartered Accountant, I trained in Bath and qualified in 1986 with regional accountancy practice, Robson Taylor.
I then joined Spicer & Oppenheim in Bristol as a Business Service Manager dealing with accountancy and tax problems, for clients in the turnover range £5 million - £12 million.
In 1990 I joined Haynes Publishing Group PLC as Group Finance Director. Haynes gradually became a highly profitable, £40 million turnover company with businesses in USA and Europe and a full listing on the London Stock Exchange.
In 1994 I added the post of UK and European MD at Haynes, in charge of 150 staff across Europe and Scandinavia, as well as being Group Finance Director.
I joined Battens in 2003.
