Location / Sherborne

With over 25 years’ experience as a solicitor, nine of them with Battens, I specialise in all areas of property work with clients throughout Somerset, Dorset, London and further afield. I am based in our Sherborne office and deal with all sorts of properties from residential houses and apartments to commercially used properties, such as shops and offices and also farm estates and land. I specialise in the more complex or high-value transactions undertaken by Battens, and offer all my clients a personal and bespoke service. I especially enjoy the unusual properties that sometimes require an element of historic title investigation to make sense of their complex title.

Before Battens, I practiced at a large UK-wide corporate law firm where I was a board director with legal compliance and a £10 million+ profit and loss business responsibility. Previous to that, I was in private practice in Bristol and Ipswich. This commercial acumen and legal background enables me to run my department at Battens, as well as providing high quality legal advice to clients needing this level of expertise.
I graduated from the University of Liverpool with an honours degree in law, before undertaking my solicitors training at the Guildford College of Law.

I believe that I am a trusted adviser to many clients and, in some cases, to generations of the same family and also their friends and colleagues. Such word of mouth referrals are very important to me, and I am very grateful to the many clients and also the estate agent contacts who go on to recommend me to others.

In my spare time I like to unwind with family at home and seem to undertake all the family dog’s walking needs –  which is a great way to problem solve as I walk! I read lots of fiction and can often be found  ‘simply relaxing’ – preferably on the Isles of Scilly which is my favourite place in the world!
