Emily started her training contract with Battens in 2014 before qualifying as a solicitor into the Family Team in 2016. Since qualifying, Emily has become an integral part of the team.

Emily obtained her Children Panel Accreditation in May 2019, an accreditation that recognises someone’s experience in Children Law. This means that she is now able to represent children directly or through their Guardian in care proceedings and private law proceedings.

Emily assists clients in all aspects of family law and appreciates that clients are often going through a difficult time so ensures that matters are dealt with sensitively and compassionately whilst providing clear and robust advice. She appreciates that every client and situation is different and ensures that clients receive prompt and appropriate advice.

Emily takes instructions from parents, wider family members, CAFCASS Guardian’s or by children directly when the Local Authority are involved and are concerned about the welfare of children. In addition, she provides advice in respect of Special Guardianship Orders to prospective applicants as well as preparing applications for such orders.

Emily has helped clients who have been victims of domestic abuse and understands the impact this has on the victim and their children. She is well versed in applying for and securing Non-Molestation Orders and Occupation Orders as appropriate.

Emily regularly takes instructions in respect of divorce and financial matters as well as contact arrangements and who a child will live with following separation.

She endeavours to represent a client from start to finish, including at any meetings or Court hearings as the need arises.
