I am a member of the Private Client team at Battens, based in the Sherborne office.
I am from South Africa originally where I became a dual-qualified solicitor, attorney and conveyancer. I was admitted as a solicitor in the UK in 2003, after qualifying through the SRA’s Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme. I then went on to practise at a firm in Plymouth specialising in Wills and Probate, before returning to South Africa where I was employed at an international financial services company advising clients on inheritance tax planning and pension law. On my return to the UK in 2016, and before joining Battens, I was employed in the Private Client department of a firm in East Devon advising on Wills, Court of Protection work and Probate.
In my spare time, I am an avid reader and collector of vintage tea cups. On weekends, I can be found, together with my husband and young daughter, enjoying our National Trust memberships, visiting beautiful places in the South West.
"Extremely satisfied with the services we received. Highly recommended. Deborah Escott-Watson was friendly, professional, informative and most efficient when dealing with our wills. We will definitely come to Battens Solicitors again in the future. Thank you"
