Leading South West firm, Battens Solicitors, have expanded their Sherborne residential property team with the appointment of Senior Associate Solicitor, Samantha Pattle and Chartered Legal Executive, Nicola Pugsley.

Together, Samantha and Nicola have extensive local knowledge of the Dorset area and boast almost 20 years’ experience in the conveyancing field between them.

Samantha started her legal career in Reading before returning to work in Dorset in 2005. “I live in a village just outside of Sherborne and I am excited to be joining Battens Sherborne office as I have many links with the town and know the surrounding areas very well having grown up locally” explains Samantha. “Battens has a long established reputation and I look forward to working with the residential property team and other property specialists in the area to overcome all the challenges the next few years are going to bring, ensuring a swift and successful outcome for our clients.”

Nicola previously worked for the firm for five years based in the Dorchester office in Dorset. “I am excited to re-join the Battens’ conveyancing team in Sherborne. It is great to be part of a traditional, long standing law firm with an excellent reputation in Dorset, Somerset and beyond. Buying or selling a property can undoubtedly be a stressful time, especially in these current circumstances. Myself and the team are on hand to help clients every step of the way, explaining everything as clearly as possible, cutting out the legal jargon!”

Head of Residential property Sarah Ford, said “We are delighted to welcome Nicola and Samantha, to our Sherborne residential property team. Their appointment strengthens the current team and provides our existing and new clients with a wealth of experience.”

“Conveyancing during a time of a global pandemic has not been without its issues and challenges. Numerous lockdowns have resulted in delays within the conveyancing process, prevented some people from being unable to vacate their property and move, mortgage offers being withdrawn due to furlough or unemployment and removal companies cancelling on home movers because they are unable to assist.”

“However, the Stamp Duty Land Tax holiday announced back in July 2020, has been very welcomed by buyers, sellers and everyone working in the property market and has resulted in an uptake in the property market. Currently the Government has set the deadline for the end of Stamp Duty holiday is as 31st March 2021 so it is crucial that the transaction gets underway as soon as possible if you are wishing to take advantage of the holiday. Our experienced team can help buyers and sellers navigate the conveyancing process and are on hand every step of the way.”
