Battens Puts on Good Show at Agricultural Events

Battens at agricultural eventsA Dorset and Somerset law firm is backing the countryside community with sponsorship of major agricultural shows.

Battens Solicitors has already been a Gold supporter of the Mid-Somerset Show (Sunday August 16) and sponsored the Farming for the Family section at the region's premier agricultural event, the Royal Bath and West Show.

Now it is supporting the Melplash Show at West Bay, near Bridport, on Thursday August 27 and the Shaftesbury and Gillingham Show at Motcombe Turnpike Showground on Wednesday August 19.

The firm is lending its name to the children's classes in the art section at the Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show, which regularly attracts 24,000 visitors. It is again a Silver supporter of the popular Melplash Show where it is sponsoring the Under 16s un-affiliated show jumping championship.

Battens has also invited the chartered accountants Spirare Ltd to co-host its marquee and stand which is immediately opposite the main ring at Melplash, which attracts around 16,000 visitors every year.

It will also have agricultural and rural legal specialists on hand to offer advice, including Consultant Solicitor in Battens' Agriculture and Land Department John Llewelyn.

John said: "Battens has been a long standing supporter of the rural community for many years and we always enjoy the annual shows.

"We're looking forward to welcoming as many people as possible to our stand at the Melplash Show and also hope to meet lots of visitors at the Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show.

"It has never been more important to get behind the rural economy and this is one of the best ways in which we can show our support and contribute to its success."

John will be among the specialists on hand to offer advice about such issues as land prices, new planning rules and Family Farm Partnership Agreements.
