Lawyer – Family Department

Yeovil, Somerset OR Dorchester

Full time and permanent

Hybrid work

9am-5.15pm – Monday-Friday (Flexibility available)

From £38,000-£70,000 dependant on experience

Plus yearly performance bonuses

Ideal candidate will:

  • Have 3-years PQE – Newly qualified will also be considered
  • Resolution Panel member (beneficial, not essential)
  • Hold a technical expertise of all areas of family
  • IT Literate
  • Teamwork – you will be working in one of Battens largest teams
  • Thrive in an atmosphere of shared goals and achievements
  • Ability to work until own initiative and solve problems
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Have good networking skills
  • Good advocacy skills


Our Family department is busy and successful, working with some of the leading Family Law experts in the Southwest, you will undertake a mix of family matters, including private and publicly funded work, from divorce to ancillary relief, domestic violence and children issues. It is a busy department, but all fee earners have good support from trained legal secretaries. If based in Dorchester this role will also involve developing a presence in the Community and building up local contacts to develop sources of work.
