Martin Davis
Director - Family Department
Having trained at Battens, Martin qualified in 1994 and accepted partnership in 2000. He became a Director in 2005, and Head of the Family Team in 2007.
He is a recognised expert in complex family cases concerning children, and also undertakes complicated matrimonial cases, including financial matters.
Martin is a member of the Law Society's Children Panel, the Association of Lawyers for Children, and a member of the Solicitors' Family Law Association.
His expertise is recognised by the annual Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession, and by The Legal 500, a competing publication.
Martin appears in all levels of court, from the Family Proceedings (Magistrates) Court to the High Court of Justice. He has been involved in some of the most serious and complex cases dealt with by the courts in the South West of England.
He has dealt with a number of cases in the Court of Appeal, most recently Re D (Citation awaited) 2009, and was an advocate in the case of Re DB (Veracity expert), the High Court authority on veracity experts in cases concerning children.
Martin has also had two articles published in The Times, dealing with the general issues surrounding Family Law.
Martin was appointed a Deputy District Judge in 2010.
