  Edward is a member of our Property Dispute Resolution team where he deals with a wide variety of disputes and disagreements in relation to property. These include landlord and tenant disputes, both in the commercial sphere and where the property is residential. He also has particular involvement in relation to property financing and the challenges which can arise under it for either party to the transaction.

  Before joining Battens, Edward worked for 4 years in the in-house legal team of a large international bank. During that time, he gained considerable experience and understanding of the commercial sensitivities surrounding disputes and litigation from the lender's point of view. He also dealt with complex and costly litigation. Edward's experience at the bank has provided him with an enormously valuable insight into the workings and thought processes of a lending institution. Having now become a gamekeeper turned poacher, he is able to deploy that knowledge for the clients whom he represents, whether they be borrowers or lenders, in a way which is not possible for most lawyers in private practice.

  Prior to working at the bank, Edward obtained a degree in law at Newcastle University and then went on to gain a Masters at Bristol University.

  When not resolving issues for clients, Edward enjoys spending time with his young son. If time allows he likes to play hockey and photography.
